Amazing ANIMAL TALENTS

We all know that humans can have amazing talents like creating music or art, abilities to move or twist their bodies in certain ways or own astonishing mental abilities. Well, what about animals? It turns out that there are many animals in this world, that have unheard of abilities or bodies no humans could ever compare to! We share with you our favourites!

Did you know that can jump as high as 6 feet up in the air? They can't fly but they sure can jump!

This animal is called Mantis Shrimp. The amazing thing about them is that they have 16 color-receptor sites in their eyes, allowing them to see all colors including ultraviolet! Humans, in comparison, only have three (red, green, blue).

Turritopsis Jellyfish are known for being... nearly immortal! When they get old or injured, they dive to the sea floor, and there they will fold in upon themselves. Essentially, they revert back to their “polyp” stage, or their baby-form, and begins life anew. Unless killed by other creatures, these jellyfish can regain their youth for as many times as they want!

The spiny mouse is kind of the Wolverine of the animal kingdom. Not only can he discard chunks of his skin to release himself from a predator's clutches, but he's also capable of re-growing the skin, cartilage, fur and even his sweat glands once they're removed.

Mimic Octopi have the ability to mimic a plethora of other underwater species, such as the lionfish, jellyfish, and sea snakes; and it does so by changing its color and reshaping its body. It can gauge the threat of another creature and shape-shift in a matter of seconds.

The deep-sea black swallower fish always bites off more than it can chew — its stomach can hold prey over twice its length and 10 times its mass! The fish grabs prey by the tail, walks its jaws over the entire animal to swallow it whole, and then takes it to-go for digestion.

Tardigrades, also known as “water bears”, are nearly indestructible. They’re tiny, only 0.059 inches in size, and can survive for nearly 120 years without food. Freezing or boiling temperatures…no problem! Pressures 6x greater than the oceans deepest depths…child’s play! Vacuum of space…piece of cake! They accomplish this by essentially dehydrating themselves to the point where their metabolic function becomes amazingly slow.

Platypus’s have “electrolocation”. Essentially, they have receptors in their bill that allows them to detect the electrical signals their prey may generate. The ironic thing is, the more quickly prey flees, the more electricity it generates, so it becomes easier for a platypus to pursue it. What’s more, the males have barbs on their hind legs that can inject a lethal poison.

Rattlesnakes and other pit vipers use heat-seeking vision to detect warm-blooded prey. Pits between their eyes and nostrils sense even minute temperature changes as infrared radiation. So much for hide and seek…

Have you ever been told to keep one eye open while you sleep? Well, it turns out dolphins and whales take that advice literally. While sleeping, these ocean mammals only shut down about half of their brain activity, so they regain energy and rest while also literally leaving one eye open to watch their surroundings. Good luck sneaking up on these guys!
