MICHAEL JORDAN
“I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can’t accept not trying.”- Michael Jordan
The greatest basketball player of all times, NBA Superstar Michael Jordan is an undisputed role model for many young, aspiring athletes.
However his rise to fame is not without failure. When he was a sophomore in high school, Jordan was passed up for the varsity basketball team. This became a turning point in his career. He took it upon himself to train harder and when he wanted to give up, used to picture the list without his name and pushed himself to work harder.
Even after entering the NBA as a professional basketball player, it took him a staggering 7 years before he earned the title. The rest would be history as he won 3 in a row, twice in his career to give him a total of 6 NBA rings.
It was this intense effort, years of practice and the ability to take failure in stride and bounce back that made Michael Jordan the star that we know today!
This quote by retired basketball legend Michael Jordan in a Nike advertisement speaks for itself.
“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”

“I didn’t see it then, but it turned out that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life.” - Steve Jobs
One of most innovative thinker of our times, Steve Jobs needs no introduction! From being a college drop out to tech visionary, he had to go through some serious bumps along his way.
His relentless drive to achieve intense perfectionism of Apple’s tech products and attention to every single detail of design aesthetics, intolerance towards mediocracy made his management style less admirable. He got fired from Apple Inc, the company he actually founded with Ronald Wayne and Steve Wozniak.
Jobs saw this move as an incredible personal failure that he had been pushed out of the company he had worked so hard to grow into a recognizable brand in the personal computer industry. He admits in an interview “what had been the focus of my entire adult life, was gone. It was devastating."
He then found NeXT and took over Pixar before eventually returning to Apple.
Once he took over Apple, he uplifted the company with one game changing hit after another and was responsible for many great tech products including iPod/iTunes which completely revolutionized the music industry, and the iPhone which set new standards in smartphone industry.
Even though Steve Jobs is no longer with us, he is still cherished as a visionary with the products he shaped and lessons he imparted along the way!
